The Vice President, Country Leader, will drive profitable growth initiatives across multiple market segment facing business lines while fostering a customer focused, continuous quality improvement culture within the United States Robotics and Discrete Automation division. The successful candidate will lead the United States Robotics division including local business lines, operational, and functional teams. This position is responsible for delivering the local Division annual performance plan with successful operational oversight of financial performance and strategic execution of the global division strategy in the United States.

President, Robotics Division

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure the development of performance targets in line with global targets and proactive to the local market. Ensure achievement through regular oversight, team management and definition of improvement actions as needed to ensure the business meets or exceeds goals
  • Ensure license to operate is maintained through management of health, safety & environment climate, internal controls and integrity
  • Understanding and awareness of customer needs is critical for success. Build and enhance long-lasting relationships with existing and new customers in the country. Work with global and local teams to ensure, through global robotics Quality Customer Experience and other interactions, ABB Robotics is the supplier of choice to our customers
  • Ensure, with the support of HR, that the local teams are sustainably assessed, staffed, trained and developed in line with business needs. Lead and manage activities in the group in line with industry appropriate, progressive leadership approach and solidify a team focused on execution and accountability
  • Evaluate market opportunities and decides appropriate activities in line with the global strategy. This includes local opportunities across all assigned groups and new segment pursuits. Highlight platform gaps and develops action plans to resolve
  • Responsible for following global process and managing trade-offs for local and global business decisions
  • Develop and implement the local strategy in the country and ensures proper business line alignment with the global strategy. Work together with the global business lines and global functions to manage the organization in the US
  • Provide input to Global Division strategy, including M&A pipeline dialogue, due diligence and integration activities as needed.
  • Participate in monthly forum with other senior business area representatives and US Country leader on a variety of topics including environment, health, and safety initiatives, workplace practices, and other related license to operate issues. Also explores key market and customer opportunities that span multiple ABB business areas
  • Responsible for ensuring that business area and US country viewpoints are considered and managed appropriately and US country programs and initiatives are implemented appropriately in the US Robotics Division

Your background

  • High School / GED AND 17 years managing full cycle business in the automation industry
  • OR
  • Associates Degree AND 15 years managing full cycle business in the automation industry
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or equivalent AND 13 years managing full cycle business in the automation industry
  • 15 years’ experience in a technical or process leadership role is preferred,
  • Ability to travel, including globally as needed
  • Leadership of global or remote teams, Leadership roles preferably in the global automation industry and familiarity of customers and trends
  • Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Change management experience & ability to lead by influence. Ability & desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
