Director of Product Marketing or Director of Product Management

Job Description:
The Director of Product Marketing supports the overall product management process for the Company by leading the team of Product Managers and developing, teaching, encouraging, and mentoring the team. In addition the Product Manager creates and manages a process that oversees the development of product line strategies that include product plans, R&D programs and operational initiatives that deliver growth in revenue and profitability. The position requires someone with the ability to develop relationships at all levels of the Company and across customer segments from around the globe. The Director of Product Marketing must also possess the ability to recognize and report emerging market opportunities and provide data to R&D engineering. The Director of Product Marketing works closely with the VP of Sales and Marketing & the executive leadership team to plan product strategies to grow Trijicon sales and margins.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct performance appraisal and goal establishment process for Product Management team.
- Provide direction, support and guidance to the product management team.
- Oversee the creation of strategic plans to ensure they grow sales and profitability of new products, lines, and services.
- Recommends strategic direction of new product developments and manages the product categories across their life cycle.
- Develops & deploys processes & procedures that positively impacts new product vitality.
- Subject matter expert for Trijicon product and its competitor’s product.
- Manages the P&L, for assigned product portfolio, for sales & margin growth
- Recommends & leads long term business strategy for growth of products lines with approval of the Executive Team.
- Leads teams through a process that conceives, researches, and screens product ideas to maintain a strong product road and deliver impactful new products.
- Uses market insights to recommend and manage the form, fit & function of products through their life cycle.
- Researches and establishes development of pricing model for products that harvests the value of the product in the market place.
- Works closely with peers and the Vice President of Sales & Marketing to create the annual business plan for the company with a focus on new products, across businesses.
- Conducts market research and competitive analysis.
- Works closely with sales to forecast demand for products & participates in production planning process to evaluate capacity & service level requirements.
- Where appropriate, drives cost out initiatives to improve profitability while maintaining appropriate product performance.
- Collaborates closely with sales to analyze data, trends, competitors and emerging markets for their product lines.
- Works with customers to understand their usage and application of products for sales in coordination engineering, quality and program management as required.
- Follows Company policies on compliance to EAR & ITAR regulations.
- Updates and educates the Sales staff, Brand Marketing, and Customer Service on new product lines.
- Performs other tasks as required.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Management or Marketing
- 10+ years of experience in product line strategies
- 4+ years managing other Product Marketing employees.
- Masters of Business and/or New Product Development Professional (NPDP) or Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) Certification
- Experience working with ERP systems, SAP a plus
- ISO 9000 experience
- Microsoft Project
- Microsoft Office Professional
- Experience and/or knowledge in hunting and/or shooting industry sports
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding, follow detailed and uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete standardized situations.
